Butchered The Joke: A Curious Interview
BUTCHER: Yes. PLUG: What kind of schooling do you need to be a butcher? BUTCHER: The grocery store teaches us. PLUG: Do you enjoy it? BUTCHER: Yes. PLUG: What's your favorite animal to hack up? BUTCHER: We don't hack anything anymore. Those days are over with. We've got a warehouse now that does everything. The only thing I cut is [what's in the refrigerated case] and it's mostly boneless. From time to time we'll get lamb and I'll cut that, but it's seldom. PLUG: Do you ever make jokes about being a butcher? For example,"Stop treating me like a piece of meat!" BUTCHER: No. PLUG: What about, "What am I, chopped liver?" BUTCHER: No. PLUG: Never? BUTCHER: No. PLUG: So meat puns weren't covered during butcher class? You should consider making some up. They're fun. BUTCHER: You already gave me two, so I'll start with those. PLUG: You can steak your life on it. Did see what I did there? BUTCHER: I did. And the customers are going to think I'm crazy. |
